Health Benefits of Green Tea
The health-promoting effects of green tea are mainly attributed to its polyphenol content. Green tea contains polyphenols, which include flavanols, flavandiols, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. Most of the green tea polyphenols (GTP) are flavonols, commonly known as catechins. Green tea has mainly four kinds of catechins: epicatechin, epigallocatechin, epicatechin-3-gallate, and EGCG. Recently many of the green tea benefits on health were attributed to its most abundant catechin (EGCG – Epigallocatechin-3-gallate)
